Although sponsoring a child or making a donation to ChildFund are excellent ways to help vulnerable children around the world, there are other ways you can work with us. April 21-27 is National Volunteer Week, and ChildFund supporters have the opportunity to volunteer at concerts held by our partners as part of the LIVE! concert series. These shows are an excellent way to help people learn more about our initiatives and enjoy some live music in the bargain.
Promoting Giving Through Music
Artists in the LIVE! concert series highlight how child sponsorship programs benefit families in the world's poorest countries. Participating artists include country chart-toppers Thompson Square, Christian rock ensemble Audio Adrenaline, country star Neal McCoy and platinum-selling all-female Christian group Girls of Grace.
Thompson Square will perform at a range of venues during National Volunteer Week, including Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Okla., and the Bayou County Superfest at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., but their tour continues through October. Two-time winners of the Academy of Country Music's vocal duo of the year award, Thompson Square recently visited their sponsored child, Emerson, in Honduras and recorded a video for their song "Glass" that features the sponsorship message and is shown during their concerts.
Similarly, Audio Adrenaline has a long history of supporting nonprofit organizations, and ChildFund is proud to be a part of their latest tour, which comes after a seven-year hiatus. Neal McCoy also supports ChildFund and sponsors a young boy named John-David in the Philippines, his mother's home country, making child sponsorship a topic close to McCoy's heart.
Making It Happen
There are numerous volunteer opportunities at shows scheduled during the LIVE! concert series for ChildFund sponsors and others who just wish to help. During the shows, volunteers will work at information tables where attendees can learn more about ChildFund's sponsorship programs. During intermission periods, volunteers may be asked to distribute promotional materials to members of the audience, so volunteering at a LIVE! show is a great way to help ChildFund and also meet other people who are committed to helping children.
