Vanthorn is living in Svay Rieng of Cambodia near Vietnam border in all life. Their humble wooden family house has not had facilities such as electricity or tap water but Vanthorn is still happy to live there, after all, there is a nearby well from which to draw water. Vanthorn enjoys being in school which is about 500 - 1000m from home. Vanthorn likes khmer language and once Vanthorn comes home he enjoys helping the family with tending animals, baby-sitting, fetching water, cooking, cleaning up and feeding animals. The family is Buddhist and they give Vanthorn lots of pride to belong to such a supportive family. Vanthorn lives with his grandmother only because his parents got devorced. Vanthorn's village is surrounding by sugar palm tree and paddy. Even life is hard for him, Vanthorn still find reason to smile daily. Like many children, Vanthorn loves soccer, a game he enjoys playing with friends in the neighborhood. For now, Vanthorn's dream is to become a tailor. Enrolment to the program would give Vanthorn a boost since he will access better medical care, education, nutrition, and sanitation.
