Valdimira is a very smart girl who lives in a community located in the southeastern part of Mozambique. She lives with her parents and siblings in a self-built house with reed walls, a thatched roof and dirt floor. They do not have running water. They pump the water from a well. Her parents are subsistence farmers. They depend entirely on family agriculture. Valdimira is a very hard work both at school and home. At home, she often helps her family with the light chores around the house. She generally washes the dishes and sweeps the yard. On her spare time, she enjoys playing hopscotch. She is a student of a state school. She enjoys studying with her friends. Her dream is to be a teacher. She is very fond of Portuguese. As the main activity is agriculture, they sometimes do not have meals in the house. There is no production because the soil is infertile. There is lack of rain and there is drought. Valdimira participates in the project program where she will receive support in the areas of health, education, nutrition and recreation.
