Dalto is a bright young boy who comes from a catholic family. He lives with his parents Jose and Agusta, together with three sisters and three brothers, in a village called Fatunero, of Timor Leste rural area. The family speaks Mambae, the language spoken in the region. Their simple house is self-built with four bedrooms, the walls are made of bamboo, the roof is also covered with corrugated iron, has earthen floors, and no electricity. Toilet is outside the house, and their water is collected from the well. Jose is a farmer without a permanent income to support his family. He relies on their farm to provide for the family daily needs. Agusta is a housewife and not in a position to help out with the finances. Dalto is attending
pre-school. His hobby is playing toy car. Ano is his nickname.
