Nguyen Chinh Doanh was born and grew up in one of the poorest mountainous village in the North of Vietnam. Doanh lives with his parents and sister in a small house with a zinc roof, brick walls and cemented floor. Like most residents in the community, his parents are both farmers. They rely on crops, especially wet rice, which they work hard to produce in the surrounding fields and hilly areas. However, an often low yield makes it difficult to provide enough food and to produce an income sufficient to meet other basic needs of the family. The family is often in lack of food for several months per year. They get drinking, washing and cooking water from a nearby well which easily gets polluted. Although Doanh faces many difficulties in his schooling, he enjoys being there learning and playing with his peers. His favorite subject includes Art. After school, he often helps his family look after the younger sibling. Doanh is an active boy. Your generosity and kind sponsorship promises to bring a brighter future for Doanh, his family and community, helping them access education, health, clean water and nutritional care.
