Joao is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Elenilton and Ana, and with a sister, in a slum area on the outskirts of the city of Fortaleza. Their simple home has brick walls, rough cement floors, and a clay-tiled roof. It is rented and has rudimentary sanitary facilities (cesspit). Running water and electricity are available. Elenilton is unemployed at this time. Ana works as a general helper in the stock department of a local firm. The per capita family income is about US$ 40.00 per month. The family is Protestant and their native language is Portuguese. Joao is an affectionate, playful and lively little boy. He likes playing with balls and toy cars in the company of other kids his age. He is fond of animals, though he does not have any at this time. Joao is considered to be in good health. He is still too young to attend school. Your support will make a difference in the life of this needy child.
