Cultivate Marcilio’s dreams

First place in the Brazilian Math Olympics. School newspaper editor. Guitar lessons. All these are things Marcílio, a 17-year-old boy in Brazil, has been able to do thanks to ChildFund International’s education programs.

Things haven’t always been so great for Marcílio. Growing up, he and his family lived in a mud and stick-walled building with dirt floors, typical of the Northeastern region where he lives. But a home improvement program of ChildFund Brazil changed their lives when they moved into a four-room house made of bricks and a cement floor, complete with electricity and running water. 

Marcílio has been a sponsored child in ChildFund’s programs since 2000. Among the many dreams he has, he wants to be a professional musician and attend college. In addition to taking guitar lessons, he is also a member of his church choir. His current environment allows him to study and develop and make his dreams become possible.
