The youth population in developing countries today is the largest the world has ever seen: nearly 1.3 billion.
They make up 47 percent of the world’s unemployed, with an average national unemployment rate two to three times higher than that of adults. Youth, ages 15 to 24, who are equipped with the information and experience to make their own decisions, can become positive agents of change in their families and communities.
We assist youth with the Critical Transition to adulthood and promote:
-
Training to acquire the skills needed to enter the workforce and meet challenges to grow into adults.
-
Skills to help understand and express emotions in ways that foster safe and fulfilling relationships.
-
Enhanced social and leadership skills to become meaningfully involved in the betterment of their communities.
A respectful and non-exploitative occupation that provides a livable income is the core driver of positive development for young adults. With vocational training and an understanding of the local market, youth can make informed decisions that promote their own economic well being. Life skills training helps them make wise decisions and prepare them to assume adult responsibilities such as marriage and parenting.
Participation is a right of all young people. It helps them develop personal and professional skills, learn from experience, form aspirations and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.
Through opportunities for engagement with their community and local governments, young adults have the power to influence others in deciding the future of their community and the world.
