to Senegal

One of the most crushing issues facing children in Senegal is the critical lack of health care.

Government hospitals are located far from most rural villages. The entire country has only 822 doctors, most of them in the capital city of Dakar.

These obstacles result in infants dying from easily preventable diseases. Women are dying in childbirth. And so many people are suffering from malaria, waterborne ailments and pneumonia — all preventable and curable, if only there were better access to health care. Our help is desperately needed.

And now we will be able to offer that help — but we need your support.

ChildFund has been awarded a $40 million grant over five years — the largest in our entire history — by USAID. But to meet the ongoing requirements of this grant, we must raise $470,000 this year.

With your support, we’ll be able to build on the work we’ve been doing in Senegal since 1985, improving family and community health. This amazing grant will help us to establish 2,151 health huts and 1,717 outreach sites. By the end of the five-year plan, we will have served more than 9 million Senegalese in 72 districts.
