Sontaya was born into a needy family that lacks of various opportunities in many ways. He lives with his father, mother, maternal grandfather and elder brother. His family grows rice on his grandparents farmland and their farming is much dependent upon forces of nature. If it rained well, the crop yields might be sufficient for whole year consumption and his family could sell some portion and keep the money earned for household expenses but if the rain was wrong, it would throw them into an extreme hardship. During an off-farm season, his father would work as wage earner and would do every job he could find in the village, mostly it is agriculture and his mother stays home, tends her children. His father struggles to feed the whole family but it is not easy to make ends meet and survive with uncertain circumstances and inconsistent income. This may not allow his family to ensure the boy a decent education and proper feeding which may risk his growth. With your act of kindness, Mangkorn and his family will live a better life.
