Enhancing Community Based Care and Support Systems for Children and Youth Living with HIV/AIDS
The Honorable Bob Macmullan, the Uganda High Commissioner and Australian High Commissioner recently visited Uganda to meet with ChildFund staff, AusAID staff, APAC grants manager and local government officials.
The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Nakanyonyi primary school in Jinja. The model school was funded through Australian Partnerships with African Communities (APAC).
ChildFund Uganda plays a lead role in the district among key stakeholders through coordination of the project, working with local officials and showing concrete results of their work for Enhancing Community Based Care and Support Systems for Children and Youth Living with HIV/AIDS.
Teachers and students shared with dignitaries the various projects and activities at the school. Students demonstrated their knowledge and skills in peer education, child-to-child support and advocacy efforts through plays, songs, dance and poetry. They showed their guests their vegetable gardens, the poultry and piggery projects at the school.
