More than 1 million children under age five in the developing world are undernourished for their age. To fight malnutrition, the ability to secure food for families is critical.
Unfortunately, in many of these countries, harsh climates and scarce water contribute to poor harvests. ChildFund works with families and communities to provide seeds, tools and irrigation systems so that they may establish and maintain sustainable gardens.
And you can help.
Through our Gifts of Love and Hope catalog, you can purchase vegetable seeds and a watering can for a family in Timor Leste or an entire vegetable farm for a family in Mexico. Likewise, fruit trees provide nutritious crops, ecological help and income to families. Purchase fruit seedlings for families in Brazil or Honduras or an entire school orchard kit for a community in Ecuador.
Part of our work is to help youth learn marketable skills so they may acquire fulfilling jobs and a sustainable income. You can help young entrepreneurs in Ethiopia get started on their careers by sending a little “seed money.”
