ChildFund Cambodia sends greetings of the New Year. The holiday lasts for three days beginning on New Year’s Day, most commonly April 13 but sometimes is celebrated starting April 14 in keeping with the lunar calendar. Khmer living in other countries may change the dates to enjoy celebrations on the weekend.
The Khmer New Year marks the end of the traditional harvesting season. Farmers enjoy the fruits of their harvest and relax before the rainy season begins.
