What is an employee matching gifts program?
Many companies and corporations offer this program as a benefit to their employees and retirees who wish to donate to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations. Your employer pledges to match your contributions to qualifying organizations.
How much of my donation will my company match?
Rules and regulations vary from company to company, but, generally, your employer will match your donation one-to-one, up to $1,000 or more a year. For example, if you donate $100, your employer will give another $100.
How do I participate in my employee matching gifts program on ChildFund's behalf?
First, you will need to inquire whether this program is offered at your company. If it is, the process must start with you. The process varies among companies, but usually there are three steps – you take the first two, and the final step is ours.
- Make a donation to ChildFund.
- Obtain an employee matching gifts program form from your employer, fill out the section indicated, and mail it to us (Attn: Matching Gifts Program, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294).
- We will take it from there. Once we have verified that your donation has been made, we will fill out the second portion of the form and return it to your employer, who will then disburse the matching funds to us.
