Please donate generously to our ChildAlert Emergency Fund. The well-being — and the lives — of so many children are at risk when natural disaster, armed conflict or other emergencies strike.
In the Philippines, for example, our project staff and volunteers told us a chilling tale of the devastating after-effects of Typhoon Washi.
Floodwaters quickly rose to depths of six feet in areas close to the riverbanks. Some residents rushed to hillsides and rooftops for security, and many fled their homes for the safety of evacuation centers or the homes of extended family on higher ground.
ChildFund is there with immediate help and lasting assistance
Right after the storm, ChildFund partners working in the affected areas requested emergency response and recovery programs, especially for the distribution of food, blankets and other supplies. Urgent needs also included providing financial assistance to affected families, and establishing Child-Centered Spaces, where suffering children can find comfort and shelter.
With money from our ChildAlert Emergency Fund, ChildFund can respond to emergencies with tangible help in four areas, as we did for hundreds of families in the Philippines:
- Distribute water, sanitation and hygiene supplies
- Distribute food and non-food items (blankets, temporary shelter, household provisions, etc.)
- Provide learning materials to daycare centers and elementary/high schools
- Establish Child-Centered Spaces.
