Dawit Teshome, a prosecutor and law expert at the Ministry of Justice in Ethiopia, credits ChildFund International with his success in life.
“I can’t forget the support of my mother and ChildFund, as these are the ones who played a big role in who I am today,” Dawit, now 24, says.
Dawit grew up as a sponsored child in ChildFund’s programs in the Dejach Wube community. When he was in high school he volunteered his time to help ChildFund’s programs, including helping children write letters.
“It made me feel like a family member with the staff and prepared me for the life ahead of me,” he says of his time with ChildFund.
Dawit graduated from the law school of Addis Abada University and hopes in the future to establish his own legal firm.
“With all the difficulties in my life things could have been different had it not been the support from ChildFund,” he says. “I truly believe education is the only option in avoiding poverty.”
