Eliphas, now 27 years old, is a formerly sponsored child through ChildFund International. At the age of six, he was enrolled into a ChildFund project in the Matiri zone of Kenya. His parents belonged to the Kabwithia Focus Group.
Eliphas joined Matiri Nursery School at the age of 8 and at age 9 successfully enrolled in first grade at Matiri Primary School. He sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination at age 17 and at 18 he was enrolled at Matiri Boys High School.
In 2003, Eliphas sat for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination and successfully managed to attain a grade of B-minus, which enabled him to secure an admission for diploma at Kagumo Teachers Training College.
Here, he pursued physics and chemistry, completing the courses in July 2007. It was last year that Eliphas was employed by Teachers Service Commission and posted to Kavutiri Secondary School in Embu. He is currently studying for his Bachelor’s Degree at Kenyatta University.
Eliphas is not only studying to finish school, he is also supporting his younger siblings at home since his parents are still not economically stable. They are both peasant farmers.
Eliphas hopes that one day, before he turns 35, he will graduate with a Master’s Degree in education management.
