| Even though she was only 13, Emily felt compelled to sponsor a child, and ChildFund connected her with Blanca, a 3-year-old in Ecuador. Ten years later, Emily fulfilled a promise to herself and traveled to Ecuador to meet Blanca. “She was exactly how I thought she would be,” Emily remembers. Meals were shared, gifts were exchanged, and there were hugs all around.
It was an experience of a lifetime.

married a man who, it turned out, was a formerly sponsored child from The Gambia. For his birthday one year, she sponsored a child — from The Gambia. “We’ve now visited little Alieu with one of our daughters and my parents,” she says. “It’s a pretty incredible experience.”
