The day is a fresh beginning for your sponsored child

Welcome to sponsorship!

You’ve said YES to sponsoring a child.
Thank you for making room in your heart for a precious child.

Sponsorship changes lives of children — and their sponsors.

Through your sponsorship you will make a difference in your child’s life and the community. Your gifts will provide for your child’s basic needs. Sponsorship dollars also help fund education. Your gifts will provide books, materials and teachers so your child can learn, grow and achieve more. And you also help fund other initiatives, such as clean water for drinking and health huts that benefit the entire community.

You’ll see the multiple ways your kindness makes a difference for a precious child you know by name, and whom you will grow to love.

Ultimately, sponsorship is an exciting exploration for both your child and for you. Congratulations on beginning this new adventure.

Your Sponsorship changes lives, giving children a reason to celebrate.

Shy strangers connect. Then friendship flowers.

Imagine what it means to a child living in poverty to know that someone far away cares. Your letters to your sponsored child are a tangible sign of that caring. When you receive their letters, you’ll see exactly how your gift of sponsorship is changing your child’s life over time. Learn more with our letter-writing tips. It may take some time for your letter to reach your child, and when it does your sponsored child will be thrilled to receive it. The letter will be cherished and put in a special place for safekeeping.

Follow the journey of a letter as it travels thousands of miles to reach a sponsored child.

Always remember to use the correct international postage and your child’s mailing address shown on the back of the information holder, to ensure your letter arrives safely.

The letter may take up to four weeks in transit to the ChildFund national office in your child’s country. In the third world communities we serve, postal delays and transport breakdowns are common.

ChildFund staff and volunteers have thousands of letters to translate. Once translated, your letter is forwarded to the sponsored child’s local program area.

The village where your sponsored child lives can be many miles from the national office — the entire distance traveled over dirt roads and trails, shared with oxen and carts. So it can easily be another one to two weeks before the letter reaches its final destination — the eager hands and hopeful eyes of your sponsored child.

It may take some time, but your sponsored child will be thrilled to receive your letter. It will be cherished and put in a special place for safekeeping.

Share the joys of sponsorship

  1. Send an e-card to friends & family.
  2. Join our Facebook group. It’s a community of supporters who care deeply about the lives of vulnerable children.
  3. Engage your own children. Sponsorship is a great way for your child to learn how other children live and about their country. And your child can share their own adventures in letters they write.
