ChildFund's monthly giving programs are a great way for you to support our work in some of the world's poorest countries and help children in need and their families. Here are a few details about how these funds help raise communities out of generational poverty.

Crucial Resources

As its name implies, Essentials for Survival focuses on providing children living in poverty and their families with the essentials they need to survive. Depending on a community's needs, this fund helps expand access to clean drinking water, provides families with nutritious food, and makes health care accessible.

The Essentials for Survival fund has allowed ChildFund to help save lives in countries around the world. In Indonesia, for example, many families live several miles from the nearest medical center. Even those who can get to a clinic may not be able to afford the cost of lifesaving medications, and as malaria is so prevalent in rural Indonesia, this means that many children's lives are in danger. However, thanks to the support and generosity of our monthly giving partners, ChildFund has been able to train community health volunteers, who help treat basic ailments and also refer patients to professional care when necessary.

"I know how to measure body temperature from the training I had with ChildFund," says Martin, one of the volunteers trained as part of the program. "When the thermometer reaches 37.5 [degrees] Celsius [99.5 degrees Fahrenheit], I will give children acetaminophen. If within three days they are still suffering from a fever, I will refer them to the health center to get a blood test to see if it is malaria."

Supporting our Essentials for Survival fund costs as little as $15 per month. Every month, your credit card will be billed for your convenience, and every quarter, ChildFund will send you a letter telling you exactly how and where your support made a difference.

Children's Greatest Needs

Another of ChildFund's monthly giving programs, the Children's Greatest Needs fund allows us to assist communities with their most urgent needs facing children and families. Projects range from rehabilitating schools and training teachers to building clinics and training health care volunteers.

For just $15, $20 or $25 per month, you can help us make a difference in the lives of children in need by giving us the flexibility to respond quickly to sudden changes in communities. Through this program, ChildFund has been able to build new wells and water catchment systems to provide communities with access to clean, safe drinking water, teach families about the importance of nutrition and give them tools and seeds to grow their own vegetables, and provide educational opportunities to girls and young women in countries where they are often marginalized.

One of the greatest strengths of this fund is the flexibility it affords us. Poverty is a complex problem, and no two communities' needs are identical. For this reason, it is vital that we are able to work with community leaders and our local partners to identify their most urgent problems and take action to address them. As with the Essentials for Survival fund, your credit card will be billed monthly for convenience, and you'll receive quarterly updates on how and where your money is going.

Without the support of our monthly giving partners, we couldn't help children in need as effectively. Please consider becoming a monthly giving partner today. The more you give, the more lives we can help save.
