Richmond, Va. – March 31, 2011 – “We are the World” Grammy-winning director Tom Trbovich and Billboard-winning producer Drew Lane (“High School Musical”) have teamed up for the worldwide launch of a music video for the “Kids Helping Kids: Japan” fundraising event.
The video will be unveiled Saturday night at a red carpet event at TRU Hollywood, hosted by ChildFund International event spokesperson Evelyn Vaccaro. The event and video are designed to raise awareness and direct donors to ChildFund International, which has launched a fundraising appeal.
ChildFund International, which serves vulnerable children throughout the world, is focusing current fundraising efforts on helping children devastated by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. ChildFund is working with its global Alliance partner, ChildFund Japan, to speed response.
ChildFund Japan is addressing immediate physical needs brought about by the shattered infrastructure — food, clean water, shelter. Relief items are being distributed in three prefectures (states) that were seriously damaged. ChildFund Japan has partnered with area organizations to maximize resources and maintain a steady flow of emergency goods (rice, noodles, powdered milk, butane cartridges and other daily needs) and to avoid overlap or gaps.
ChildFund also will provide psychosocial support for the children who suffered the disasters and will continue to bear their long-term effects. ChildFund Japan will provide thousands of teachers with a manual based on one that ChildFund International created for use in emergency situations.
