Shenura is a cheerful young boy living with his parents and two brothers in the Monaragala district of Sri Lanka. He enjoys reading books and playing games with his friends. Shenura also helps his family with daily chores such as cleaning, collecting firewood, and fetching water. He has a special interest in learning English and walks 1.5 kilometers to school each day with his mother. Despite being under treatment for wheezing, his family’s financial limitations prevent them from providing him with better transport arrangements. They live in an incompletely built house with brick walls, a cement floor, and an asbestos sheet roof. While the family has access to electricity and sanitation, water for household use must be fetched from their protected well. Shenura’s father works full-time, but his income is barely enough to feed the family of five, and nutritious food is a luxury they cannot afford. The growing needs of Shenura and his siblings stretch their resources thin. A sponsor could offer Shenura access to nutritious meals, proper healthcare, and educational support, helping him build a brighter and healthier future.
