Varsha is raised by her single mother. Her father walked away from the family some time ago. The mother runs a small business to generate much needed income for this family of two. She generates and annul income of about USD400. Needless to say, that Varsha and her mother lives in extreme poverty. They live in a house that belongs to a relative and is situated in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. The house itself is only partially constructed and the well on the property is unprotected. Varsha goes to school and back with her mother on foot. The school is situated in close proximity to their house. Varsha’s favourite subject in school is Sinhala. When ever she has some free time, Varsha likes to play with her friends from the neighbourhood. Single parent families, especially those lead by single mothers struggle so much to make ends meet and Varsha and her mother could really use a break. A little help from a kind and generous person would make a world of difference for this brave and courageous mother and daughter.
