Somo is a jolly young boy who hails from a remote village in Marsabit county. He lives with both parents as the only child so far. The family lives in a semi-permanent makeshift traditional hut made from sisal fibers, sticks and pieces of old clothes. The family rely on unprotected community shallow well which is however not too safe. They depend on a their few livestock for their livelihood. This income is often times threatened by perennial droughts caused by lack of rainfall and poor livestock market. Their annual income is below USD 530, which is hardly sufficient to meet their basic needs. Somo’s case was considered and recommended for enrolment after the zonal committee assessed their situation upon plea by his mother. Somo gets home based care. He likes playing with dolls. The child is too young to assist his parent in any household chores. We highly welcome your support.
