Richmond, VA – April 4, 2013–ChildFund International is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its board – Elizabeth A. (Betsy) Flanagan, Ed Grier and Anne Waleski.

Elizabeth A. (Betsy) Flanagan is vice president for development and university relations at Virginia Tech and executive vice president of the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., where she has been leading its advancement efforts since 2000. She led the most ambitious campaign in Virginia Tech history, surpassing its $1 billion goal. Before joining Virginia Tech, Flanagan was assistant vice president for development and director of individual major and planned gifts for the University of Virginia during its $1.4 billion capital campaign. A former vice president at SunTrust Bank in Richmond, Flanagan managed its management training and organizational development programs, as well as the high-net worth unit in personal trust.

Ed Grier is dean of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business. Before coming to VCU, Grier spent 29 years with the Walt Disney Company. As a top- level executive, his work with Disney spanned the globe with assignments in Orlando, Paris, Tokyo and Anaheim. In Anaheim, Grier served as president of Disneyland Resort, an operation that comprises nearly $2 billion in annual revenue and 20,000 employees. His numerous leadership roles have given him the expertise necessary for successful corporate and school endeavors, including brand management, finance and planning, marketing, public relations and administration.

Anne Waleski is vice president and chief financial officer at Markel Corporation since May 2010. Waleski served as treasurer from 2003 until her promotion and served as assistant treasurer from 1996 until 2003. Waleski’s primary areas of responsibility include capital management, financial reporting, treasury, tax, rating agency and banking relationships. She also works on various strategic operational and acquisition opportunities. Waleski joined the Markel organization in 1993.
