Richmond, VA – October 2, 2012– ChildFund International will co-sponsor “America’s Role in the World,” a foreign policy forum on U.S. global engagement and its impact on Virginia’s future. Anne Lynam Goddard, president & CEO of ChildFund International, will provide opening remarks at the Foreign Public Policy Forum in Richmond later today.

“Whether it is fighting hunger, malaria or HIV and AIDS, empowering women and girls, advocating for justice, or rebuilding communities after disaster, we are eyewitnesses to the life-changing impact of that small but mighty 1 percent of federal spending we all know as America’s International Affairs budget,” Goddard said.

The event will serve as an opportunity to discuss the importance of American engagement in the world – specifically through foreign assistance – and the impact it has on Virginia. General Anthony Zinni, USMC (Ret.) will address the national security importance of U.S. engagement and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Obama National Security Advisory Committee Member Dr. Bruce Jentleson will talk about foreign assistance/policy and the presidential campaign.

The event takes place tonight at 7 p.m. at the Omni Hotel located in downtown Richmond. A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. The event is free with an RSVP.

“America’s Role in the World” is also sponsored by Virginia Chamber of Commerce, U. S. Global Leadership Coalition and Virginia Free. For more information or to RSVP, visit
