ChildFund Partners with Singer and Activist Jen Chapin to Promote Child Sponsorship

Richmond, Va.– March 20, 2014 – ChildFund International, a global child development and protection organization, is partnering with urban folk soul singer, songwriter and poverty activist Jen Chapin to promote child sponsorship during her 29-city North American concert tour.

ChildFund works with children and families in developing countries to disrupt poverty. Chapin also is passionate about impacting poverty and hunger. She has worked with WhyHunger, a grassroots organization founded by her father, singer-songwriter Harry Chapin.

“I was raised in a home where learning, caring and trying to do something about hunger and poverty was a regular part of our lives. And it turns out this commitment gives as much as it takes,” said Chapin. “Through my longtime involvement with WhyHunger, I’ve connected with some amazing people growing food justice around the U.S. and the world, and I’m happy to now connect with ChildFund in expanding this community of caring.”

Chapin joins the ranks of many artists who have signed to ChildFund’s LIVE! series to bring awareness of poverty’s effect on children and families. At concerts audience members learn how they can change a child’s life through child sponsorship. They can sign up to sponsor a child on the spot.

Jeff Miller, ChildFund’s LIVE! manager, adds, “Jen comes to ChildFund with a lifetime spent devoting herself and her concerts to be a voice for those less fortunate than ourselves. I am thrilled that she is partnering with us to make a difference in the lives of children all across the world.”
