When you grow up in an urban slum of 200,000 people, it’s hard to find a path out of poverty. MIAtv host Alex visits the Makuru project in Nairobi to discover how ChildFund’s support for a school and a children’s club is providing an educational oasis for children, empowering them to plan for the future.

Saving a Nomadic Tribe via Child Sponsorship
Alex travels to Kenya’s Lodwar region, one of the hardest hit areas in the Horn of Africa drought. By introducing farming and water-harvesting techniques, ChildFund is helping the Turkana people become self-sustaining. The entire community is benefitting from ChildFund’s sponsorship program, which begins with a one-to-one relationship between a sponsor and a child, like Godfrey.
