Rose is a cheerful and bright young girl from North Eastern Uganda who loves playing dodgeball with her siblings during her free time. She lives with her parents and several siblings in a rural village where life is full of challenges, but Rose continues to face each day with a smile and hope for a better future. Her parents rely on small-scale farming, mainly growing maize and millet. Their harvests are just enough to feed the family, leaving very little income for other needs. Despite their hardships, they are determined to support Rose’s education, knowing that school is her best chance at escaping the cycle of poverty. Rose attends a nearby community school that lacks basic resources. There are no desks, textbooks, or qualified teachers. She sits on the floor during lessons, and when it rains, water leaks through the roof, soaking their exercise books and disrupting classes. Rose doesn’t have a proper school uniform or sufficient books, and her parents often cannot afford school supplies. Rose dreams of becoming a nurse one day so she can help others and improve lives in her community.
