Rukshani lives in the Nuwara Eliya area of Sri Lanka, which is marked with hills, tea plantations and waterfalls. Rukshani lives a challenging life with her parents, brother and sister. The live in their own house made of cement walls, cement floor and a tin-sheet roof. Their modest house has tap water, electricity and toilet facilities. Rukshani helps her parents with cooking and water collecting chores and she enjoys playing hide and seek with her friends in her leisure time. She travels by public transport with her siblings to a school located 3 kilometres away. Her parents earn an annual income of $1,400, which is barely enough to cover the familys basic needs and educational expenses. With the support of a sponsor, Rukshani s family could improve their living conditions, afford healthier meals, and work toward a brighter future.
