Nethsara is a young boy from the Monaragala district of Sri Lanka. He lives with his parents, brother, and sister in their half-built house with brick walls, a cement floor, and a clay tile roof. Despite having access to electricity and sanitary facilities, the family must fetch water daily from a protected well. His father, a seasonal farmer and the sole breadwinner, earns a low and inconsistent income, making it difficult to meet the growing needs of the three children. Nethsara enjoys school, especially learning Math, and his father takes him there by motorcycle. He loves playing cricket in his leisure time and actively helps with household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and collecting firewood. Though he may appear healthy, Nethsara suffers from Thalassemia—a condition that requires consistent access to nutritious food, which is often a luxury his family cannot afford. With the support of a sponsor, Nethsara could receive the nutrition and care he needs, paving the way for a more secure life and a brighter future.
