Life is sometimes difficult for Jama and her parents in their locality in the eastern part of Sierra Leone. Like many families in their village, her parents are subsistence farmers who do not produce enough from their farm to meet all the basic needs of the entire family. They live in a two-room house, and little Jama sleeps on a locally made bed with a savannah-stuffed mattress alongside her siblings. With an annual income of just $238 from small-scale farming, the family can afford only one meal a day and a few clothes once a year. This income is insufficient to meet their basic needs, let alone lift them out of poverty. Jama is a school-going child in her community. She enjoys playing balance ball games with her peers during her free time. Sponsorship support would help her grow well and gain an education, offering hope for a better future.
