Safan lives with his mother, grandmother, one brother and a sister in a small village in the far rural area of Sierra Leone. His father is away in another town to find a casual job. The family dwells in a mud house roofed with thatch. The walls are not plastered and the floor not paved. Safan sleeps with his younger brother on a small local bed with grass mattress without using mosquito net and with poor beddings. He is exposed to mosquito bites and other insects that may cause sickness. In the dry season, they get their drinking water from the stream which is not safe for drinking. His mother sells fried cake in the community schools to get their daily food with a monthly income that is below US$37. Safan is attending the community primary school in his village. He loves playing football with friends and mounting of kite. With sponsorship, he will acualize his dream of becoming a mechanic.
