Haquil is a young man who resides with his parents in a rural community in the southeastern part of Mozambique. This is a tropical, humid and hot region. The home of the family is a self-built structure made of blocks with a thatched roof. The property is not equipped with electricity, and lighting is provided by a basic kerosene lamp. The water supply is sourced from a well. As subsistence farmers with no means of earning an income, it is clear that his parents face significant challenges, relying on the produce of their land. Haquil is confronted with considerable challenges due to his inability to meet fundamental daily needs, including a balanced diet. Haquil is currently enrolled in elementary school. The family faces the risk of exposure to health hazards, including malaria, due to the absence of a mosquito net. Haquil has expressed a desire to pursue a career in education upon completing his formal education, while also engaging in soccer recreationally and contributing to household chores. It is hoped that this sponsorship program will provide him with access to the various support programs available in the community.
