Yulisia is known to her family simply as Belucha. She lives with her parents in a small farming village located in the southeastern part of Mozambique, in Southern Africa. The region is characterized by hot and dry weather almost all year round. Yulisia and her family live in a self-built house with reed walls, a thatched roof, and a dirt floor. They do not have access to running water and electricity in the house. It turns out that her parents are both unemployed, and they do subsistence farming in order to get by. Unfortunately, the living circumstance of this family is one of dire poverty. Their income cannot afford their basic needs. Yulisia is a willful child who bet on education as her assured future. She is attending elementary school. The family has sought assistance from the ChildFund sponsorship program, where Yulisia will certainly receive support in the areas of health, education, nutrition, and recreation. Yulisia helps out at home by sweeping the backyard. She is a calm girl who enjoys spending time playing hopscotch with her friends.
