Danilo lives with his parents in a small farming village located in the southeastern part of Mozambique, in Southern Africa. The region is characterized by hot and dry weather almost all year round. Danilo and his family live in a self-built house with brick walls, an old zinc sheet roof, and a rough concrete floor. They do not have access to running water and electricity in the house. It turns out that his parents are both unemployed, and they do subsistence farming in order to get by. Unfortunately, the living circumstance of this family is one of dire poverty. Their income cannot afford their basic needs. Danilo is a willful child who bet on education as his assured future. He is attending elementary school. The family has sought assistance from the ChildFund sponsorship program, where Danilo will certainly receive support in the areas of health, education, nutrition, and recreation. Danilo helps out at home by grazing the animals. He is a humble boy who enjoys spending time playing with toy cars with friends.
