Yuna is a young woman residing with her mother and grandmother in a rural community in the southeastern region of Mozambique. The weather is tropical and hot, and the main activity is farming and raising animals. Her house, which she built with wood, lacks modern amenities like electricity or running water. Lighting is provided by a basic kerosene lamp, and water is sourced from a nearby well. Due to the loss of her father, who previously covered daily expenses, Yuna and her family are currently experiencing severe financial constraints. Her mother is engaged in subsistence farming to support the family. Her lack of income-generating activities leaves her dependent on the produce of the land for her daily needs. The scarcity of essential goods is particularly pronounced, with nutritional and clothing requirements representing the most evident manifestation of their hardships. In her spare time, Yuna enjoys playing and assisting with household chores. Her family has sought assistance from the sponsorship program, where Yuna will receive support.
