Maria Samile is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her widowed mother, Maria Simone; maternal grandparents, Francisco and Maria, and with one aunt, in a small rural village located in the interior of the state of Ceara, which is a hot and remote region. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Maria Simone cleans houses when available and Francisco works as a day laborer in agriculture; the combined income, however, is hardly enough to meet basic needs. She is communicative, cheerful and affectionate. She helps her mom by filling the bottles with water. She loves playing house and with dolls in the company of other girls her age. Maria Samile attends a local public primary school and her favorite subject is Portuguese. Her wish is to be a police officer when she grows up. The family is needy and through your support Maria Samile and her family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
