Gabriel is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Francisco and Francisca, and with one younger sister and one older brother, on the outskirts of a small town located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Francisco works as a day laborer in agriculture when available and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government; the total income, however, is hardly enough to meet basic needs. Gabriel is intelligent, cheerful and playful. Gabriels favorite pastimes include playing tag and hide-and-seek. Gabriel attends a local public elementary school and likes physical education. He dreams of becoming an engineer someday. The family is needy and through your support Gabriel and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
