This is Juan Carlos; he is 10 years old. He lives with his parents and one sister. His mother is a homemaker and his father is a peasant who makes around $69.00 USD a month. Juan Carlos and his sister are studying in elementary school. They are a humble family from the Nahuatl ethnic group and they are bilingual. They own a house that is made with wood and cement and they count with electricity and running water. They count with one table, 6 chairs and 2 beds. Due to their low incomes, their meals are not well balanced; they use to include coffee, milk, bread, tortillas beans, pasta and eggs. Juan Carlos is a healthy boy who likes to play with the ball with his sister and classmates during recess. He also likes to run and jump and enjoys to draw and to listen to music. He is a joyful and friendly boy who helps his parents with the tasks at the fields, to fetch wood fire, feed the chickens, sweep and hang his clothes.
