Joana Rose, simply called Joana, belongs to a family with six members. They are all living in the house of her grandparents, which is made with semi-concrete materials such as wood and cement, sturdy enough to withstand light weather. They have a latrine installed in their home. They use light powered by electricity, and water from the spring. Joanas mother is their sole provider, earning $115.00 monthly. With the educational requirements of Joana and her siblings plus the increasing price of goods and services, their income usually falls short, yet they remain hopeful because they believe better days are coming. Joana is in primary grade, and her favorite subject is Mathematics. Her family often sees her spend her time on either writing, watching educational segments on their television, or playing with her friends outside. Joana is also not selective when it comes to food but she rejoices more when she sees chicken, either fried or cooked with green papaya in a stew. Joana’s favorite color is red. She dreams of becoming a teacher someday, nurturing young minds.
