Gloria is a cheerful girl who lives with her parents, sister, and brother in the Eastern part of Kenya. The family lives in a three-roomed semi-permanent iron sheet-roofed house. They fetch water for domestic use from a borehole. Gloria’s family practices peasant farming where they grow maize and beans as food crops for their subsistence. However, due to low rainfall experienced in the area, the amounts of harvests are generally minimal. To supplement this, her father works casually on their neighbours farms like tilling and digging terraces. These jobs are scarce and poorly paid, thus bringing in very little income. The family has an average annual income of below USD $ 420, which hardly meets the needs of the family. Gloria’s family learned of our program during a community meeting and approached the office for support. Gloria is in school in the community. She enjoys playing football with her friends and assists in household chores while at home. Your support will tremendously shape her life and that of the entire family.
