Rejie, affectionately called Jie-Jie, lives with her family in a house made of wood and bamboo in a community with limited access to safe water and has poor sanitary condition. The family struggles to make ends meet as prices of goods in public markets are out of control in the area. Her family only relies on her father who works as a driver, earning $53.70 monthly.  Though supplemented with rigorous budgeting of her mother, it is still nearly impossible to cover all their expenses unless they cut something off from their actual needs. Jie-Jie is the eldest child, who is enrolled as a primary school pupil in a public school in their area. She finds joy in playing with her school friends during their break time. She dreams of finishing her education so she can help her parents.
