Akai is a humble girl who lives in Turkana County in the northern part of Kenya. She lives together with both her parents and one sister. They live in a communal land in a grass thatched house. They get their water from a nearby river which will expose them to waterborne disease because the water is not clean. The mother is the bread winner who depends on making booms and father sells charcoal. The family’s annual income is less than $ 360 which hardly meets their basic needs. Akai goes to a nearby school in the village, she does well in counting and drawing. Akai likes playing handmade football with her friends during her free time. Community leaders referred the parents to seek help from child fund project to assist Akai achieve her dreams. Akai helps her parents in gathering firewood and fetching water. She would like to become a nurse when she grows up. Your support will bring a lasting change to Akai’s life.
