Joan is a cheerful girl who comes from the Northern part of Kenya, Turkana County. She lives with her parents, one sister and two brothers. They live in a grass thatched house and smeared with mud in a communal land and they fetch water from the community hand pump whose water is not clean thus predisposing the child to water borne diseaes. Her mother depends on broom making activity. However, the annual income derived from this broom making is below 360 US dollars which is not enough to support the family needs. Joan goes to a nearby school in the village and performs better in mathematics and English. In addition to this, she loves playing rope skipping with her friends during free time. Joan aspires to be a journalist when she grows up. Her mother decided to approach the office to seek for assistance which will help change not only her life but also that of family members. She also helps her parents in cleaning and carrying out other light house chores. Your help will be highly appreciated and of great help.
