Ana Cecilia is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her parents, Francisco and Carla, on the outskirts of a small town located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Electricity is available. Water is carried from an artesian well. Francisco works as a general helper for a local firm and his earnings are far from enough to meet even the most basic needs of his family. Ana Cecilia is cheerful and communicative. She loves playing hopscotch in the company of other girls her age. She has a dog she is passionately fond of. Ana Cecilia attends kindergarten and loves drawing and coloring.
