Senura Lakshan is a playful and cheerful young boy living in the Monaragala District of Sri Lanka, a dry zone area known for its farming communities and scenic stretches of open land. He lives with his parents in a simple brick-walled house with a cement floor and a clay-tiled roof, which is owned by a relative. The family has electricity and a toilet, but they must rely on water from a neighbor’s well. Senura attends a primary school located 2.5 kilometers away, and every morning, his father takes him there by bicycle. He enjoys playing during his free time and also supports his mother with tasks like gathering firewood. His father works as a wage laborer in farming, while his mother stays at home, managing household responsibilities. With an annual income of only USD 600, it is difficult for the family to afford nutritious meals or cover the cost of Senura’s education. A caring sponsor could make a lasting impact—helping them rise above their struggles and giving Senura a better chance at a bright and hopeful future.
