Devindi is a sweet little girl from the Monaragala district of Sri Lanka, living with her parents and three brothers. She has a passion for Math and enjoys drawing in her free time. Every day, she walks 5 km to school with her mother or friends. At home, she plays a vital role in supporting her family by helping with cleaning, cooking, washing clothes, collecting firewood, fetching water, and caring for her younger siblings. Her family lives in a half-built house owned by a relative, made of brick walls, a cement floor, and an asbestos sheet roof. While they have electricity and sanitation, they must rely on a neighbor’s well for water. Her father, a laborer, is the sole provider, and his meager income barely keeps the family of six fed. Nutritious food is a rare luxury, and the financial strain casts a shadow of uncertainty over Devindis future. With the support of a sponsor, she could pursue her education more comfortably and live free of worry in a safer, more stable environment alongside her family.
