Santiago grows up in a remote community of Cochabamba, Bolivia, that faces many serious difficulties, including life-altering malnutrition, extreme generational poverty, and poor educational services. He is a joyful, playful and energetic boy who enjoys playing football. He attends preschool, where he enjoys his art activities. He lives with his parents in a modest dwelling made of brick walls, cement floor and corrugated metal roof. They lack sanitation services. His father is a construction worker, while his mother takes care of the household chores. The family monthly income is no more than US $ 285.00, which is lower than the minimum wage and reaching the end of the month is a constant struggle. Sponsorship positively impacts the lives of the children they are sponsored through the simple knowledge that someone cares about their well-being. This gives children in need hope, which is powerful.
