Jiwani belongs to a backward family and lives with her parents in a faraway tribal village in Jharkhand. They share a mud hut that lacks basic facilities. Her father works long and exhausting hours as a farmer. Still, his annual salary of approximately USD 240 is insufficient to support the family and pay for education, household expenses, and other necessities. The mother is a dedicated housewife who tries to do whatever is at hand, but there is hardly any improvement in their living conditions. Finally, the parents appealed to this project for assistance in the care and education of this child. Jiwani attends primary school and enjoys counting numbers. She loves playing with friends.
